David D. Crouse was born on November 5, 1852, in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He was the son of Henry Crouse and Mary Taylor. [1][2] He grew to adulthood in Rutherford County.[3][4]
On December 9, 1875, David married Nancy C. Allen in Rutherford County, Tennessee.[2][5] This couple had at least two children together in Rutherford County who survived to adulthood : Henry Ezra and Lillie Mae.[6][7][8] However, Ezra died young, at age 21,[2] and only Lillie appears to have had any children.
David's wife Nancy died in Rutherford County on July 28, 1914.[9] David died in Rutherford County four years later on December 29, 1918.[10]
Research Notes
His death certificate indicates a birth date of November 25, but the earlier family bible records consistently say November 5. Also, the 1880 census record identifies David as a widower, but the later records make clear this is an error. His wife Nancy died some time after 1910.
