Mary (Crouse) Mitchell was born in Appalachia, in Virginia.

Mary Magdalene 'Maggie' Crouse was born on 24 Apr 1895 in Virginia, United States. She was the daughter of John Crouse and Mary 'Mollie' (Asbury) Crouse. Note the 1940 census has her erroneously listed as born in North Carolina, but all other census records indicate Virginia.

In the 1900 census Mary (age 5) was the single daughter of John Crouse in Jeffersonville District, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.^[1] In the 1910 census Mary (age 14) was the daughter of John Crouse in Jeffersonville, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.^[2] In the 1920 census Maggie (age 25) was the wife of John H Mitchell with 2 children at McDowell, West Virginia, United States.^[3] In the 1930 census Maggie (age 35) was the wife of John H Mitchell (age 43) with 3 children at Frankford, Greenbrier, West Virginia, United States.^[4] In the 1940 census Maggie (age 44) was the wife of John H Mitchell (age 53) with 5 children at Frankford Magisterial District, Greenbrier, West Virginia, United States. ^[5]

John Henry Mitchell passed away on 12 Feb 1969. He was 82 Years old and was buried at Union Chapel Cemetery, Delta, York County, Pennsylvania, United States.^[6] Mary passed away on 22 Jun 1976. She was 81 years old and was buried beside John at Union Chapel Cemetery, Delta, York County, Pennsylvania, United States.^[7]
