Timeline

  • 1768 William was baptized 21 August 1768 by Pastor Fryenmoet in the Kinderhook Church [2][3]
  • 1780 both William Jr and John enlisted, even James's 9 yr old son William 3rd as a drummer boy [4][5]
  • 1781 in the first battalion of the Royal Yorkers (King's Royal Regiment of New York ) were James, Anthony and Isaac based near Montréal. In the second battalion of the Royal Yorkers were William Sr , William Jr, John and William 3rd based at Oswego, Carleton Island. [6][7]
  • 1784 his Loyalist grant gave him lot 20, Twp 1, later called Charlottenburgh Twp. [8][9]
  • 1786 William and brother Anthony were still living in Charlottenburgh Twp. [10]
  • 1787 he obtained a grant for lot 21, concession 6, Osnabruck Twp. He marries a woman named Magdalena abbreviated to Lena and Laney. [11][12]
  • 1814 he must have served in the War of 1812 under Captain Henry Merkle, as William Sr. with sons Anthony and William. As listed in the Dundas Militia Regiment for 1828[13][14]
  • 1828 William moved to Matilda Twp. [15][16]
  • 1840 in a court petition over a land title, William stated that he was aged , infirm and unable to support himself and his aged companion. [17][18]
