Biography

Anderson was born in 1834. He married in 1855 to Priscilla E. Simpson, a daughter of John Simpson and Mary Mileham. His marriage record indicates he was born in Guilford County, North Carolina and was 21 years old in July of 1855. Priscilla was only 14 years old but their families were well connected and Priscilla's father had died a few years prior. In fact, Anderson had been residing in the household of Priscilla's uncle, Nathaniel Simpson, during the census of 1850 and Jeremiah Crowder had witnessed the will of Priscilla's great-grandfather in Guilford County in 1827.

Anderson and Priscilla resided in Grant County, Kentucky and there made a good sized family. He enlisted and served in Company D of the 18th Kentucky Infantry during the Civil War. He was only 46 years of age when he died in 1880. His widow Priscilla was able to draw a pension from his service and she survived him by 39 years.
