He married firstly Gracie S Brown on 27 Jan 1877.^{[8][9][10][11]} She died on 27 Jan 1879.^[12][13]

He married secondly, Annie L Dean on 28 Sep 1881.^[14][15]

Josiah died on 13 Feb 1938.^[16][17]
