Biography

Robert John Crozier, first child and eldest son of Joseph Crozier and his wife Minnie Emerson, was born at Christchurch in Canterbury, New Zealand on 5th July 1877.

On 18th August 1898, Robert married Lucy Ellen Philpott at St Michael's Anglican Church in Christchurch; both were aged 21. The marriage registers of many Canterbury churches have been transcribed by members of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, and the transcript of this marriage … held at the Christchurch Public Library … reads:

"On 18 August 1898 at St Michael’s Church, Christchurch; Robert John Crozier, 21 years, bachelor, salesman, born at Christchurch, present and usual address Christchurch, son of Joseph Crozier, carter and Minnie Emerson [sic]; married Lucy Ellen Philpott, 21 years, spinster, born at Christchurch, present and usual address Christchurch; daughter of George Philpott, engineer, and Ellen nee Preston." ^{[1] [2]}

Over the next 13 years Robert and Lucy had at least five children.
