Agnes Margaret Crum was born on 24 July 1876 in Liverpool, Metropolitan Borough of Liverpool, Merseyside, England, daughter of Walter Ewing Crum (1843–1882) and Sara Margaret Tinne (1849–1932).

In the 1881 census Agnes (age 4) was the niece of Charles Watson in Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland.^[1]
