Maria del Rosario was born about 1872. She is the daughter of Francisco Antonio Cruz and Bonifacia Trujillo.

• In 1880, Rosana Cruz, age 8; lived in the East Oest Settlement in Huerfano, Colorado, with her father, Francisco Antonio Cruz, age, 50, a sheep herder; and with her mother, Maria Bonifacia Trujillo, age 36; and with Rosana's siblings: Cecilio Cruz, age 22, a sheep herder; (Cecilio's wife) Rosura Cruz, age 16; Dolores Cruz, age 18; Maria Cruz, age 12; Rafaela Cruz, age 4; and Juan D. Cruz, age 1; along with Francisco Antonio's brothers' family which included: Jose Sebastian Cruz, age 56; Maria Antonia Cruz, age 50; and their children: Jose Presciliano Cruz, age 19; Jose Nicolas Cruz, age 17; Juana Maria Cruz, age 15; and Juan Bautista Cruz, age 10.^[2]
