Biography

Joseph Marie Cuillerier was born on 30 March 1757, baptized on the 31st in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, son of Simon Cuillerier and Madeleine Dechamps.^[1][2][3]

NOTE: Various spellings for Cuillerier (Cuerrier, Cuillierier, Quillerier, Cuyllerier etc.) there was no standard spelling at the time, various priests wrote it phonetically as they heard it. Various more modern sources standardize to their views. Note that ill before another vowel sounds exactly like y before another vowel, hence the name Cadillac is actually correctly pronounced Cadiyac in French. One version of the name even got written Tuguerrier on the baptism of a grandchild of his. Liard-1

Marriage

Joseph Marie Cuillierier, son of the late Simon Cuillierier and the late Madeleine Dechamp, married Amable Queneville, daughter of Jean Baptiste Queneville and of Barbe Amable Cédilot, and widow of Joseph Martin dit St-Jean, on 17 April 1780 in Les Cèdres, (St-Joseph),^[4][5]

Joseph Marie Cuillierier, widower of Amable Quenneville, remarried on 18 February 1805 in Les Cèdres with Catherine Akin, widow of Augustin Dubreuil.^{[7] [8][9]}

Possible child: Joseph Cuillerier, son of Jean Marie Cuillerier and Catherine Akin, of age, married to Angélique Monpeti 8 Nov 1830 Les Cèdres. The record has his mother's name added in the margin only, the body of the text did not name her. It was added by the priest who performed the marriage and bears his initials.^[6] Neither baptism nor funeral record has been found for him with Catherine Akin as mother. Possibly this is actually the Joseph Cuillerier born in 1797 from the prior marriage, for whom no other trace is found. The priest might have only known of the second wife and not the first and filled in the blank erroneously afterwards. That boy would have been raised in part by Catherine.

Death

Joseph Cuillierier, husband of Catherine Aquin, died on 1 December 1836 and was buried on the 3rd in St-Ignace de Coteau-du-Lac, the record giving him 84 years of age.^[10][11][12]
