Sharon was born in 1938. She was the adopted daughter of Thomas Culhane and Clara Yuhasz. She passed away in 2015.
Sister Sharon Culhane, formerly known as Sister Thomas Clare Culhane, died on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She was 76 years of age and in the 57th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Sharon was born in Rockford, Ill., to Thomas and Clara (Holomany) Culhane. She graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School in Rockford, Ill.; and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Mich.
Sister Sharon ministered in elementary and secondary education for 40 years in Des Moines, Iowa; Mundelein, Chicago and Wilmette, Ill.; Charleston, Columbia, Daufuskie Island, Hardeeville and Kingstree, S.C. This includes two years at Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette and five years at Aquinas Dominican High School in Chicago, both institutions of the Adrian Dominican Congregation. She also spent 10 years serving the African American communities in Charleston and Columbia, S.C. Sister became a resident in Adrian, Mich., in 2015.
Sister Sharon is survived by loving nieces and nephews.
