Biography

Charles was born in 1817. He passed away in 1881. He married Aquilla "Quilly" Hastings on 3 Sep 1835 in Sussex County, Delaware.^[1] They had 10 children together from 1836 to 1854.

Charles married Eleanor Mary Ellis on 11 Jan 1855 in Sussex County, Delaware,^[1] and they had 6 additional children together from about 1856 to 1871.

Research Notes

Jim Culver had noted that Charles had 10 children with both of his wives. I found 10 and 6 which agrees with the info from the Spillers reference.^[1]

Here are the census tables with the marriage and child number added to identify the different children through the misspellings, multiple names, and probably bad data entry on the census. Horace, the 6th child from his second marriage, would be on the 1880 census but the family might not be on the 1860 census.

There is a Charles Culver on the 1880 Census^[2] in Little Creek Hundred but the age of him and his wife and most of the details for the children do not line up at all. I am not sure yet who that Charles Culver would be or if someone else provided his info for the census and just did not know the details.
