According to his revolutionary war pension application, he enlisted in 1777 within Captain Watson's company under Colonel Herman Swift's Connecticut regiment and he fought at German Town, Red Bank, Mudd Island and Monmouth. He served for five years.
He received a pension based on his service during the revolutionary war.

His date of birth is given on page 81 of the Culver Genealogy (1910). His date of death and marriage were taken from legal papers surrounding the continuance of his revolution pension after his death.
