Biography

Dorothy Edith Cumberpatch was baptised at St Matthew's Church, Northampton, England, United Kingdom on 11th February 1897 ^[1].

In 1901 Dorothy E. was 4 and living with her parents Bessie (40) and William (39, a boot and shoe finisher) and her sisters Lillian B. (18, a shoe machinist), Ethel E. (16, a shoe machinist), Eva G. (13) and Nellie V. (9) at Junction Road, Kingsthorpe. All the family were born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England ^[2].

In 1911 Dorothy Edith was 14. She was an office worker in the shoe trade. She was still living with Bessie (50) and William (49, a finisher in the shoe trade) and her sisters Ethel Eliza (26, a fitter in the shoe trade), Eva G. (23, a machinist in the shoe trade), Nellie Violet (19, a fitter in the shoe trade, Gladys Evelyn (9), and Ivy Winifred (7) at 12 Collingwood Road, Northampton ^[3].

In 1939 Dorothy (born 19th November 1896) was living at 145 Lindsay Avenue, Northampton. Also in the household were two young people (redacted). She was a Supplementanary Wage Clerk, a Factory ARP and First Aider ^[4].
