Welcome to our community, T. It's nice your grand aunt got you started on family tree research.
The more ancestors you add, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. :)
Our Honor Code, G2G forum, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.
Please consider stopping by the Tree House to introduce yourself.
VERY IMPORTANT:
The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.
Thank you for helping in our mission to build a global tree with only ONE profile per person.
I agree with your mission and I volunteer to contribute to your shared family tree. My Grand Aunt Thysel taught me to do Genealogy and now I hooked on it. I love every minute that I am doing it.
2. Our Help pages have all sorts of useful information.
3. Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.
If you like to grow your own family tree and agree with our Mission & 9 Simple Rules, click the Volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile on how you can contribute.
More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
