Thelma was born on 5 May 1906 when her father Joseph Benjamin Cummings was using an alias 'Roy Joseph Davenport' so that her surname appears as Davenport. Her mother was Susan (Eliza) Hall. She was born in Stepney, South Australia, with the birth registered at Norwood, South Australia.
According to the Australia, Marriage Index, 1788-1922, Thelma Ena Cummings married Reginald Murray Williams-58272 during the registration period 1928-1932 in South Australia. However, the specific date is given in her husband's autobiography (see Sources: Williams, R.M. with Ruhen, Olaf, 1997, p.50), with the location at the Wakefield Street Registry Office that is in Adelaide. The Depression quickly followed, so Reginald went looking for work, leaving Thelma with her mother, but to no avail. They went north to the Flinders Ranges until their first child Diane was going to be born, which took place in Adelaide at a Salvation Army Hospital on 5 July 1930 (op.cit., p.51). Their 2nd child led to a return to Adelaide, in August 1932 for the birth of Ian Murray Williams also in a SAH.
Dene Reginald Williams was born in November 1934 and Joscelyn Anne Williams in July 1937, with John Mitchell Williams in May 1943 and Christopher Kerry Williams in mid 1945 in his autobiography. The last 2 were during WWII (op.cit., p.70).
Thelma Ena Williams died on 6 February 1994 and was buried at Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, Mitcham City, South Australia, Australia.
