Charles was born on 13 Feb 1862, on the family farm in Wilson township, Winona county, Minnesota. He was the son of Sumner and Mary Cummings. His occupation was farming in Wilson township, where he remained his entire life. He married Ida May Hopkins on 6 Aug 1877, in Winona county, Minnesota. Charles and Ida had four children, Mary, Sumner, Edward, and Merle. He passed away on 25 Jan 1944. on the farm in Wilson, Winona, Minnesota, and is buried in Witoka Cemetery.

Charles Cummings Wilson Farmer, Dies Witoka, Minn.-(Special)- Charles Cummings, 81, died on the farm in Wilson township where he was born, at 5:45 PM, Tuesday following a short illness. He was born February 13, 1862, and spent his entire life on the farm. Mrs. Cummings died January 20, 1941. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Paul Berg, Winona, and Merle at home; two sons, Sumner, Cedar Valley, and Edward, Milwaukee; one sister, Mrs Doralyn Christian, Winona, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Fawcett-Hillyer funeral chapel, Winona, at 2:30 PM and at the Witoka Methodist church at 3 PM. The rev. Charles Crouch will officiate and burial will be in the Witoka cemetery. Friends may call at the Fawcett-Hillyer chapel Thursday afternoon and evening.
