His Civil War draft registration shows him running a livery stable.
He passed away in 1881.

1850 - U. S. Federal Census - Washington Cundiff is a 25 year old farmer in Washington Township, Buchanan County, Missouri in the 1850 census. Living with him are his 20-year-old wife, Mary, and his two-year-old son, John.[1]
1860 - U.S. Federal Census - In the 1860 census, Washington is listed as W. L. Cundiff, 36, who is living in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. Residing with him is his wife, Mary J., 30, and children Jno F., 12; V. Cundif, 9, L. Cundif, 7; Edward Cundif, 5 and Oliver Cundif, 2. Also with the family is G. W. Fisher, 24 and a number of other boarders. Washington is a stable keeper.[2]
1870 - U.S. Federal Census - In the 1870 census, Washington Cundiff is enumerated as Wash L. Cundiff, 44, and is living in Ward 3, St. Joseph, Buchanan, Missouri. Living with him are his wife, Mary Cundiff, 41, and his children, Viola, 29; Laura, 18; Edw, 15; Oliver, 12; Ida, 9; Hattie, 6; Lou. 3. Also living with the family is Ellen Peterson, 20. Washington is listed as an editor.[3]
1880 - U.S. Federal Census - In the 1880 census, the Cundiff surname is mispelled as Cudiff. The census shows Washington Cudiff, 53, a widower, living in St. Joseph, Buchanan Children living with him include his children, Ida, 18; Hattie, 16, and, Lee, 13. Washington is listed as running a livery.[4]
