Biography

William George Cunningham was born on 31 August 1830 in Clifton Bristol, Gloucestershire, England,^[1][2][3] the son of Mary Cunningham and James Cunningham.^[1]

He was christened on 3 November 1830 in Bristol.^[1]

He married Adelaide Yates on 2 November 1850 in Bideford, Devon.^[2][4][5] Their children were:

• Willis Cunningham (1853?–?)^[2]
• Amelia Blanch Cunningham (1854?–?)^[2][3]
• Alice Georgie Cunningham (1856?–1903)^[2][3][5]
• Florence Cunningham (1858?–?)^[2][3]
• Algernon Peel Cunningham (1864–?)^[3]
• Emily Cunningham (1866?–?)^[3]

In 1861, William was employed as Superintendent of Police.^[2] He lived in Langtree, Devon with his family.^[2]

In 1871 he remained employed in the police force.^[3] His wife was not present in the home at the time of the 1871 household Census.^[3]
