Alexander Cupples was born in Scotland.

Alexander Cupples was born in the parish of Slamannan on 26 March 1898 and was the eldest son of John Cupples and Barbara Provan.^[1]

On the 1901 census, Alexander, aged 3 years, is living at Todsbright, Slamannan, with his parents and siblings: Barbara (6 years), Annie (4 years) and David (1 year). John's younger brother, Thomas, also a coal miner, is boarding with them.^[2]

Alexander married Christina Tulloch Pettigrew Glen in the parish of Kilsyth on 27 September 1929.^[3]

Alexander Cupples died, aged 90 years, in 1989.^[4]
