David Provan Cupples was born in the parish of Slamannan on 16 December 1899 and was the second son of John Cupples and Barbara Provan.[1]
On the 1901 census, David, aged 1 year, is living at Todsbright, Slamannan, with his parents and siblings: Barbara (6 years), Annie (4 years) and Alexander (3 years). John's younger brother, Thomas, also a coal miner, is boarding with them.[2]
David Provan Cupples died, aged 75 years, in 1974.[3]
