Biography

Alexander Cupples was born in Scotland.

Alexander Cupples was born in the parish of Larbert on 28 March 1841 and was the eldest son of Robert Cupples and Catherine Forrester.^[1][2]

On the 1841 census, Alexander, aged 2 months, is living in Larbert with his parents.^[3]

On the 1851 census, Alexander, aged 10 years, is living in Larbert with his parents and siblings: Jane (8 years), Elizabeth (6 years), Margaret (4 years) and Agnes (2 years).^[4]

On the 1861 census, Alexander, aged 20 years, is living at Lodge, Slamannan, with his parents and siblings: Mary (9 years), William (7 years), Robert (5 years), Peter (3 years) and John (9 months). Alexander is working as an agricultural labourer like his father, however he would eventually become a platelayer for the railway.^[5]

Alexander married Ann Aitken on 19 June 1868 but their marriage was short-lived and no children were born. Ann was fifteen years older than Alexander who was only 29 years when he died.^[6][7]

Alexander Cupples died of a stomach ulcer, aged 29 years, on 29 August 1870.^[8]
