As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.
Has the New Member How-To been helpful or left you with any questions?
I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.

I don't get to spend nearly as much time as I'd like on the site! If my husband comes through with winning the Publisher's Clearinghouse I'll be all genealogy, 24/7! :D
I have a pretty extensive tree set up on Ancestry that I'd like to have in my WikiTree. I haven't spent much time on trying to figure it out (technology is not my forte) but if there are easy steps to import that, please let me know.
I'd like to get involved with the "orphan files" but I'm so busy right now with work, home and my mother! I don't want to make a commitment that I can't keep.
I know how you feel, each lottery day, I plan how to spend the winnings, and haven't won yet, :-(. You can download your tree as a GEDCOM and then upload it on here. When you log in to Ancestry click on your tree and select the tree setting, on the right hand side under manage your tree click on export your tree and that will start the GEDCOM, it takes a few minutes, once it has downloaded you can then upload it on here. It will take a few minutes to upload, and you will get a message through when it is ready. The GEDCOM will not automatically populate your tree, it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting suggested matches, once you have done this any remaining names will need to be added manually. There is a limit of 5000 names with the GEDCOM. You can split your tree https://support.ancestry.com/s/article/Splitting-an-Ancestry-Family-Tree, I have done this and found it very time consuming, if you use Chrome there is an extension you can get WikiTree X https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:WikiTree_X.
I attempt to GEDCOM it this evening! Either way it sounds time consuming, I'm into the 1600's for half the family so, that's a lotta people! Is it my imagination or do the Europeans keep better records than we did in America?
Good luck with your GEDCOM, yes they are a bit time consuming, WikiTree X is quicker, that is a lot of people, I still have a lot more people to add. I have not had much to find for America, but from what I can see they can be pretty much the same. I did answer this to you 5 hours ago, but silly me replied to the email and not the message on here.
