Research Notes

Mary Ann was inconsistent when she gave her place of birth, but she was most probably born in or near Lambeth as that is where she was buried, but as her parents soon moved to Battersea, she may have believed she was born there. Often people gave their birth place as that of the place they were currently living - maybe due to fear of removal.

Mary Ann appears to have died by 1871 as she does not appear to be in the 1871 Census - however the 1868 death does not appear to be in the correct registration district (would expect the registration district to be Wandsworth if she was still living in Battersea).
