Ernest Augustus Curran was born in 1870 at Ballarat, Victoria Colony, Australia. He was the son of Ernest Curran and Lavinia (Brooker) Curran. ^[1]

Ernest married Ida Florence Harris in 1895 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. ^[2]

Ernest married Mary Ettie (or Lottie) Richardson on December 5, 1910 at Eagle Junction, Queensland, Australia. ^{[3] [4]}. Mary was the daughter of Charles Oakley Richardson of Albion.

On 4 June 1935, Ernest legally changed his name to Ernest Augustus Slade^[5].

Ernest died on 13 December 1935 at Waverley, New South Wales, Australia. ^[6]
