RAAF 419033 Flight Sergeant George Donald Currey, Royal Australian Air Force, 13th August 1944, aged 25. Son of George Donald and Mary Harriet Currey, of Shepparton, Victoria, Australia.

RAAF 419033 Flight Sergeant George Currey, Royal Australian Air Force, was killed due to enemy action on 13th August 1944, aged 23. Son of George Currey and Mary , of Bayswater,Victoria, Australia.

On completion of training, George was posted to 50 Squadron RAF in No5 Group BC as part of Douglas Haynes crew. Their aircraft was damaged in a bombing raid to Ruselheim on the night of 12/13 August 1944. Their Lancaster bomber subsequently crashed killing all on board. Their bodies were recovered by villagers and the seven bodies were buried together in a common grave in the village cemetery. Post war the villagers erected a suitable headstone identifying each of the crew


George Currey is a Military Veteran.
