Biography

Hugh married Mary Ann King. The 1850 census (Oswegatchie, St. Lawrence, New York) lists Hugh Curry age 46, b. Ireland, shoemaker; Mary Curry 46 b. Ireland; children John 17, Peter 15, Mary Ann 13, Catherine 12 and Bridget 10 (all b. NY); and Jesse Eaton age 17, b. England. [1]

" Republican City Nominations - Hugh Curry, for Collector, is also a good nomination. He has been a resident of Ogdensburg for thirty-five years. He is one of our sterling Irish Republicans who inherited the principles of '98, and believe in universal liberty the world over. No man has a keener sense of right or a higher appreciation of true honor. He will be elected, and discharge the duties of the office faithfully." [2]

"City Election, 1870 - Hugh Curry for Collector goes in with 220 majority" [3]

Hugh and Mary died on the same day. "Hugh Curry, aged 89 years, and his wife, Mary Curry, aged 92, both of Ogdensburg, died Friday from the effects of the Grip." [4]

Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ogdensburg NY USA.
