Clarence Melvin Curtis was born on October 4, 1907 in Sandwich South Township, Essex, Ontario, Canada, son of Clemence Joseph Curtis (1859–1928) and Emily Taylor (1864–1948).[1]
Melvin died on March 10, 1976 in Windsor, Essex, aged 68. He was buried in Saint Stephen's Anglican Church Cemetery, Oldcastle, Essex County, Ontario.[2]

Resting at the Stewart L. Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot St. N., Essex until noon Friday thenco to St. Stephen Anglican Church, Oldcastle for funeral service at 2 p.m., Rev. T. Koning officiating.
