Henry Curtis was born on 23 September 1739 in Leigh, Wiltshire, England, son of Henry Curtis (1715–1793) and Ann Unknown (1715–1774).
Henry married Hannah Townsend (born on 26 August 1742 in South Cerney, Gloucestershire, England; daughter of Nathaniel Townsend and Jane (Hawkins) Townsend). Their known son was Henry Curtis (27 September 1767 – 18 March 1832).
