Biography

Mary Curtis was born about 1645 in Maryland to parents Robert Curtis and _____ (Hannah Fame). She married first John Suttle about 1660 in Maryland. Children: Mary, William, John, Jane. John died in 1680 and she married second Thomas Mattingly about 1682 in Maryland. Children: Judith, Elizabeth, Thomas, James. She died in 1696 in St. Mary's, Maryland.

Will of John Suttle (SMC) 4/14/1680-5/29/1680. Eldest son, John 380 ac. "Beverly". Youngest son, William "Suttle's Rest". Should either son die without heirs, the survivor to inherit. Wife: Mary, "Thames" during life. Daughter: Jane, plantation afsd. at death of mother. Daughter: Mary, "Suttle's Reins" (Should be "Suttle's Range", LDR). Sons to be of age at 18 and daughters at 17. Overseers: Thomas Carville and John Goldsmith. Wit: William Howell, Thomas Burford. No Exec. named. (Maryland Calendar of Wills).
