Julius was born in 1833, the son of Asbury Curtis and Elizabeth F. (Betsy) Addington. He passed away in 1911 and is buried at the Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia; Plot: Block 11, Lot 6, Grave 8[1][2] Note how both his and his wife's tombstones add an extra "s" as "Curtiss".
He was married twice, with 3 children by his first wife, Lou Belle Phillips.[3][4][5] She likely died of childbirth from her third child; only one of the children survived past the first year of age. He married his second wife, Helen Mar Winters, on 14 Oct 1879 in Hall County, Georgia.[6]
He is listed with his second wife, Helen Mar Winters in the 1880 Census as of 14 June, living at Homer, Georgia (Banks County), page 330B, occupation minister, 1 child at home- Mary (Mamie) Belle Curtis, from his first marriage.
Julius and Helen are listed in the 1900 US Census as living in Gainesville, Georgia; ED 72, sheet 1A, occupation preacher, no children. [7]:
