Biography

Sir Thomas Cusack was an Irish judge and statesman of the sixteenth century. [1] & [2]

He was born between 1490 & 1505 Thomas was the eldest son of John Cusack of Cussington / Cushinstown, Co. Meath and his wife Alison de Wellesley youngest daughter of Sir William de Welesley [1]

He married 1). a distant cousin, Joan Hussey, (living 1581) with whom he had at least three children. The marriage was annulled for consanguinity. ( Joan m2. _ Bathe of Drumcondra, Dublin) [1] &[2]

1532 He became Chancellor of the Irish Exchequer [2]

He was Knighted in 1640. [3] The same year he obtained a lease of the abbey of Lismullen in co. Meath where his sister Mary had been the Abbess.

He m2). Matilda / Maud Darcy daughter of George Darcy, of Plattyn / Platin, Co. Meath and the widow of 1). James Marwoode, Baron of Scryne & m2). Richard Fitzgerald. [2] & [4]

He m3). 1559 / 60 Genet Sarsfield of Sarsfieldstown, Co. Meath, as her 4th husband [2] & [1] & [5]

He died in 1571 and was buried at Trevet, co. Meath where a memorial was raised to him and Maud by their son John
