He was Knighted in 1640. [3] The same year he obtained a lease of the abbey of Lismullen in co. Meath where his sister Mary had been the Abbess.

He died in 1571 and was buried at Trevet, co. Meath where a memorial was raised to him and Maud by their son John
Edward Cusack (d. 1596) of Lismullen m. Elizabeth Aylmer - Issue. He was (convicted of treason in 1582 along with Nicholas Nugent, but received a full pardon).
