Biography

Silvanus Cushman was born on April 27, 1764 in Middleboro, Plymouth, Province of Massachusetts Bay. His parents were Ichabod Cushman and Patience Mackfern.[1]

In 1778, Sylvanus, above the age of 14 years, made the choice for William Cushman of Middleborough to be his guardian.[2]

Military

Silvanus Cushman performed Patriotic Service in Massachusetts in the American Revolution.

Braintree. Private. Capt. Nathaniel Belcher's Co.; marched August 30, 1779; discharged November 8, 1779; service 2 mons., 11 days; company raised for service under Maj. Gen. Hancock at Castle Island.[3][4]

He married Sarah Cushman, daughter of Samuel Cushman on 5 October 1788 in Middleborough.[5][6]
