I’ll see about joining Pre‐1700 projects after a mod has seen to my GEDCOM upload (probably less than 24 hours now).
For my pre‐1700 ancestors that I’m aware of so far, I will need to join the United Kingdom project (specifically the England subproject), and I’m not sure what project will apply to my French ancestors but I suspect it’s the Huguenot project.
I’m undecided whether I’ll join any others, but there are a few I’m considering and I don’t need to decide particularly soon.

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great!
Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Let me know. I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders.

I am very interested in helping to build a shared family tree, and I intend to provide all the information I have so far.
Of all the totally free shared tree sites I’ve seen so far, this seems to be the largest, and that’s certainly a major point in its favor.
Before I say I’ll volunteer, there’s at least one question that I feel I need the answer to: a lot of my tree so far, while accurate to the best of my knowledge, is lacking in sources, mainly because it’s easier to just add the actual information first and source it later. The eighth of the “nine simple rules” mentions sources, but doesn’t really make it clear whether the approach of “add first, source later” is acceptable here. If not, I’ll probably continue elsewhere.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. That's awesome. Our GEDCOM process is a bit different than what might be used to on other sites. We have some great help pages to make your experience go more smoothly: Upload vs Import What is GEDCompare Before Importing a GEDCOM After importing a GEDCOM If you have any questions about your GEDCOM or our process, you can contact our GEDCOM Manager for assistance.
