Biography

Born about 1581 John Cutts was the eldest son of John Cutts [1] and his second wife, Margaret Brocket of Brocket Hall, Hatfield. He was educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Barnet, Hertfordshire and Cambridge University where he earned an MA in 1615.

About July 1599 he married Anne Kempe daughter of Sir Thomas Kempe of Olantigh, Wye in Kent and his wife, Anne Moore. They had a daughter who died childless.

He succeeded his second cousin Sir Henry Cutts and was knighted in 1603 being returned as member of Parliament for Cambridgeshire in 1604, 1614, 1620, 1624, 1625, 1626 and 1640.

His second wife was Anne Weld daughter of Sir John Weld of Arnolds, Edmonton, Middlesex. They were married at St Olave, Old Jewry in London on 13 December 1632. They had two sons, John and Henry, and a daughter.

John died in June 1646 [2] and was buried on 14th July.
