Hendee, his and Nora’s son, who had been shot on 9/28/1901 while serving in the Army in the Philippine Islands) Obituary: “Former Resident Of Beloit Is Dead - Rites for Mrs. Lenora C. Hendee Are Wednesday - Mrs. Lenora C. Hendee, 78, a former resident of Beloit, died Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna McIntyre, St. Paul, Minn. With whom she had made her home for many years. She had been in ill health for a long time. Mrs. Hendee was the widow of H. J. Hendee who died some years ago. She also was preceded in death by a son, Harry W. Hendee, who lost his life in the Spanish-American war [actually the Philippine Island Insurrection following the Spanish-American war put down by the United States military]. From young girlhood, she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Beloit. Surviving relatives are the daughter at whose home she died, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. George Gayton, of Beloit, four nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the home of her sister, 945 Highland avenue, this city [Beloit, Wisconsin], the Rev. H. A.
