Henry S. Cyrus was born 1850 in Wayne County, Virginia and was shown as age 5/12 in the 1850 census for Wayne County dated 31 August 1850 living in the household of Albert and Martha A. Sirus.[1]
There is confusion over the correct name for his mother. The 1850 census clearly shows Martha A. was the name of the wife of Albert Cyrus. However Henry's death record lists his mother as Cynthia Thacker.
Apparently his parents died before 1860 when Henry is shown living in the household of his grandparents Smith and Reacy Cyrus in Wayne County, Virginia. [2]
Henry, his wife Ellen and their family were living in Wayne County, West Virginia in the 1880 census.[3]
His Kentucky Death Records provides these details about him. [5][6]
