Philip was the son of Ralph II Aubigny and Maud Montsorel. He passed away, childless, before 20 December 1224 when the Close Rolls record that his uncle Aubigny-100 was given custody of some of his English lands. Other lands, at Ingleby, Yorkshire, were entrusted to his uncle Philip in a grant dated 6 January 1226/7, and the grant describes him as being ‘de Britannia’, that is, of Brittany.[1]
