DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Charl by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
According to " Oude Kaapsche Familien (3) pg 38 under "du Plessis" Charl born 1722, was married to Maria van Ellewee and Geertruij Boeiens but it does not give Maria Susanna van Niekerk as his wife.
In Volume 2 under "van Niekerk, pg 471, it gives her as married to Carel du Plessis.
Under the du Plessis register I found no Maria Susanna van Niekerk married to a du Plessis.
Could it be possible that Charl "Charel" du Plessis could have died before 1724 and that another Charl Jean "Charl" Du Plessis b1c7 born in 1724 could have been named after him and should indeed be the Charel attached to all the profiles of the spouses?
In Volume 2 under "van Niekerk, pg 471, it gives her as married to Carel du Plessis.
Under the du Plessis register I found no Maria Susanna van Niekerk married to a du Plessis.
