I never had th opportunity to meet my great Uncle Felix, the brother of my grandmother,Eudora,"DOE" Gaudette. I have saved an article from the Mechanicville Express,Tuesday,Oct 21,2008 titled The Late Felix A. D'Avignon's name is added to NYS Fallen Firefighter Memorial in poignant ceremony held at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. In 1945, at 2:56am,while responding to a fire alarm, the E.H. Strang Hose Co. on which he was riding was struck at a crossing by a D&H Railroad train. He was killed instantly. His wife Effie D'Avignon, was left with 3 young children. His son Charles was instrumental having his father's name added. It was one of his last wishes & in Jul 08 his wish came true but sadly died 2 days later. Sylvia Ciulla accepts a memorial flag on behalf of her father. OUR FALLEN HEROE
