Granddaughter of Walter Bowne, who served two terms as Mayor of New York. Daughter of Robert Southgate and Jessie D. Bowne. Married Harris Dunscomb Colt, son of Harris Colt and Catharine Dunscomb, on Dec 19, 1894 in Flushing, Queens, NY. He was a lawyer in New York City. They filed for legal separation in 1911.
