Biography

The early years

William Leonard Dabbs was born on the 20th of Nov 1893 in Toronto, Ontario[1] to Charles Henry Dabbs and Eliza Gilson[2][3][4].

He would marry Florence Dorothy Brown[1] and they would have:

He would leave Florence a single mother when the boys were young and is rumoured to have headed to the middle east area of the United States.

Through the years

In 1901[5]

He would grow to be about 5' 11", 170 pounds, a chest with the girth of 38 inches, with a fair complexion, blue eyes and brown hair, belonging to the Church of England[1].

In 1911[2] He would be living in York South Township Ontario. In the home were Charles 45, Eliza 43, Mary 19, Leonard 16, Nellie 14, Henry 11, Emma 6 and Irene 1. His parents confirmed they had arrived from England in 1888, his father was employed as a gardener. He confirmed that his earnings the last year had been $600, and he had a life insurance policy worth $1,000 that cost $28.00

Death

He would die in March of 1960.

Military

On the 28th of Feb 1916, he would sign his WWI Attestation Papers[1]. At the time he was living in Forestburg Alberta, working as a farmer and had started his new life with Florence.

For his short time, he would be part of the "A" Company Corps.

He would be discharged from the military on the 16th of March 1916[7] due to being medically unfit (Hammer toes), under the authority of the standing medical board of March 9, 1916.
