James Dadswell was baptized on 9 July 1831 in Wadhurst. He died aged 48 years and his death was registered in the first quarter of 1880 in the Ticehurst registration district. At the time of the 1861 census, he was an unmarried 29-year-old agricultural labourer living with his mother.
James married Elizabeth Oliver on 24 August 1862 in the parish church of Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Elizabeth may have been baptized on 15 April 1838 in Etchingham, Sussex and have been the daughter of Frances Oliver. She died in 1920.
When the 1881 census was recorded Elizabeth was a charwoman living in Ticehurst village along with her 6 children.
