In 1695, Simon sailed from Boston with several others to establish a colony in what is now the southerly end of SC ... The settlement was first called Newington but later was callled Dorchester from Dorchester MA, where the colony was formed ... Little is known of this settlement except that it did not prosper. He did not remain there long but returned to Concord sometime between 1700 and 1702. Also marriage and children info available from referenced document - The Descendants of Thomas Dakin of Concord, Mass, complied by Albert H. Dakin[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Simon by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Simon:
According to the family history (Descendants of Thomas Dakin of Concord MA, compiled by Albert Dakin, https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89062870050;view=1up;seq=22 and https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89062870050&view=1up&seq=25, the comment posted below is incorrect. Huldah Cheney Worcester is the mother of Huldah Worcester who married Simon the second. Huldah and Simon the second are the parents of Simon the third, among other offspring. Simon the second married again, to Elaner Johnson. Simon the first married only once, to Elizabeth Brooks. If there is more information about this, including any sources, please forward them. To the best of my knowledge and sources (see Dakin-103) however, the family history cited above is correct on this matter.
These sources are no more or no less reliable than the Dakin Genealogy in my opinion. For example the Dakin Genealogy fails to deal with this record (Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988 for Mrs Huldah Dakin, Concord & Vital Record Transcripts, Mrs. [Huldah] Dakin, widow, aged 90, [wid. of Simon] November 28, 1789) when dealing with the wife or wives of Simon 2. Now I grant that the information enclosed in "[ ]" may not have been in the original but without seeing the original we have to assume it is correct in the published transcript.
Simon the 1st married Elizabeth who died and then 2nd he married Huldah Cheney Worcester. Widow of Rev. Timothy Worcester. Her maiden name is Cheney (Peter, John) and she is the step mother to Simon II. North American, Family Histories and Geography and History of the County of Digby. So many people have the Huldah's mixed up and have Huldah Cheney's maiden name as Worcester. Simon 1st is my 9th great grandfather. My great grandmother married a Dakin. He is also my husband's 9th great grandfather. At some point 1/2 brothers created a line in each of our trees.
Dakin-104 and Dakin-45 appear to represent the same person because: they have the same death dates and information and their birth information matches. Even though the information on the one is incomplete they were married to the same Elizabeth Brooks.
These sources are no more or no less reliable than the Dakin Genealogy in my opinion.
