John, son of James Dale and Martha Dale, was born near Londonderry, Ireland about 1690. He passed away in 1788 in Worcester County, Maryland. John married Elizabeth McKnitt (McKnight)[1] who was the daughter of his aunt Martha Dale who married John McKnitt. Their six children were:

Martha Dale m. Elias Whaley
Sarah Dale m. Joseph Evans
Rhoda Dale m. Wheatly Hatfield
Ann Dale m. Robert Stevenson
Thomas Dale m. Elizabeth Evans in Sussex County, Delaware, dau. of John Evans of North Petherton (Somerset County, Pennsylvania). He died in 1812 in Smith/DeKalb County, Tennessee.
Slaves
He bequeathed to his daughter Martha, at his death, a "Negro" slave to be passed down mother to children.
