Biography

Elizabeth Dale was born in 1832. She married William Ellis in 1850.

In 1850, they lived in Fayette city, Alabama. William,18, born in MS, was a farmer. His wife Ann was also 18. Living nearby were William’s parents, James, 55, and Lettice, 53, and his three siblings, including twin brothers.^[1]

In 1860, the Ellis family lived in Lowndes County, Mississippi. The family included William J. Ellis, 26 (28), born in MS, a farmer, with $900 in real estate and $400 in personal estate; his wife, Eliza, 28, b. SC; their children, all b. MS, except as noted: Nancy, 8, b. Alabama, in school; John, 5; Samuel, 3; and Martha, 2. ^[2]

Elizabeth Ann Dale, born in South Carolina, and her husband William Ellis, born in Mississippi, are mentioned as parents in the death record of their son, S. L. Ellis, who was born 13 February 1857 in Columbus, MS, and died, aged 82, on 4 January 1940 in Newcastle, Young, Texas.^[3]
