Edward was born in Horsham Sussex before 31 January 1827 which is the date of his christening. He is the son of William Dale and Catherine Seagrave.
Research Note
Of the children of William and Catherine, Edward is the only one who does not appear as residing with the family in the 1841 census. At the same time, we find a record of a 14 yr old Edward Dale living at the Horsham Central Workhouse. Similarly, in the 1851 census, the same Edward Dale seems to remain at the workhouse (labelled as a 'pauper and an idiot'). No verifiable census or life event records for Edward after that could be located.
