Dwight Dale, 85, of 989 James St. died Tuesday at a local nursing home after a long illness. Mr. Dale lived in Syracuse most of his life. He was a judge 14 years for the New York State Compensation Board before his retirement in 1968. He was a graduate of the Peddie Institute of New Jersey and Cornell College of Law, Class of 1925. He was a World War I Army veteran. Mr. Dale practiced law in Westfield from 1925 to 1928. He formerly was an assistant corporation counsel for the city of Syracuse. Mr. Dale was past commander and a member of American Legion Post 41. He was a member of the 40 and 8 Honor Society, the Cornell Law Association, and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Surviving are his wife, Harriet Brennan Dale; a daughter, Jean Haines of Kildare, EL; a son, Richard P. of Seaford, Del.; a stepson, Richard Brennan of Syracuse; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
