Mayor Richard M. Daley, son of the late Mayor Richard J. Daley, upon completion of his current term in office, will hold the title of longest sitting Mayor in Chicago's history. He was elected to City Hall in 1989 and has been re-elected six times!
Richard was educated at the same schools as his late father, DePaul University.
Mayor Daley is married and lives in Chicago. He and his wife have four children.
As Mayor of Chicago, Daley has made gun control a priority. He is the leader of group called Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and has worked diligently for gun control in his city.
After many terms in office, Mayor Daley shows no signs of slowing down, and is widely recognized for his efforts to bring the 2016 Olympic Summer games to Chicago. If successful, the Mayor will surely have yet another addition to his legacy as Mayor of one of the countries largest cities.
