• Norma Jean Dalrymple was born in 1938 in Conewango Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Virgil L. Dalrymple and his wife Ruby Dyer. She had several siblings, and her family lived with her widowed maternal grandmother, Lena Victoria Honhart Dalrymple who was about 64 when she was born.

• Norma Jean Dalrymple was one of six siblings:
  • Patricia Dalrymple, April 17, 1929, who married Grant Bentley and passed away as a young wife in 1966 at the age of 36.
  • Mary L. Dalrymple, born March 25, 1931, who married Mr. Falconer, and passed away November 25, 2006 in Warren, Pa.
  • Donald Virgil Dalrymple, born 1935 and passed away at the age of 48.
  • Norma Jean Dalrymple, born 1938, who married twice, first to Fallsworth VanGilder and second to Jim Darling, and passed away in 2002.
  • Albert R. Dalrymple, born October 1940, who died in infancy in November 1940.
