His grandkids knew him as Goom. He got this nickname from his grandson Henry Dalton who he would give gum to in hopes that his grandson would like him. Henry called him Goom because of the gum that he always gave, and the nickname stuck the rest of his life.[3]
He passed away 12 July 1975 in Tucson, Arizona.[4][5]
